The Tabitha Project

The Mission

  • To renew and revitalize a UMC congregation that is in spiritual decline by providing the people to create effective outreach ministries that meet the needs of the nearby community as well as strengthen and encourage the congregation to rise to the challenge of rebuilding their church.

The Plan

  • Identify and gain the wholehearted support of the pastor and the laity of a spiritually distressed congregation to the mission of church renewal.
  • Establish an outreach plan that is tailored to that community.
  • Recruit a group of volunteers who will commit to a six month mission of at least one afternoon/evening a week plus Sunday worship every 4 to 6 weeks and who have the talents/skills required to build effective outreach ministries.
  • In the Fall of 2006 launch the project with a series of attracting events designed to get the attention of the community.
  • For six months the volunteers faithfully serve placing new members of that congregation in ministry positions as they become ready.
